This Christmas...

This year in light of all the ills in the world and the recent waves of catastrophes that have reached our nation, not to mention, whatever has touched us personally this year... lets take time to consider the really  important things in our lives.   We have to give thanks because every day more and more, we're reminded of our undeniable vulnerabilities as human beings.  Lets appreciate and love the ones around us and most of all be thankful to God for sustaining us.

The Apostle Paul said "It is when I'm weak that I'm strong".   But he meant this only because God was the pillar he was leaning on and the rock of his salvation.

It's not so much to say we know God or know about God but instead it's about renewing our relationship with God every single day.   True faith is one of humility and submission whereby we step to the side, and allow God to take over our lives. It's about the daily pursuit of God in knowledge by reading His Word and seeking to know more of Him every day in order to know His will for our lives...

It's about a true relationship with Him.   If we don't know Him, lets seek Him and if we know Him, lets seek Him more and more every day.

This Christmas will be a different type of Christmas in light of all these issues going on around us.  All these things affect all of us.   But at the same time, if they serve to draw us closer to God and hug our loved ones tighter this year, count it as a message and a blessing handed down to us because with God "When we're weak, then we're strong".

And this is the true message of Christmas that gets lost every year...

When our world is coming apart, behold the good news of God's salvation arrives for us today....

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

                                                                                                  - Luke 2:9-14

Merry Christmas!

Dave Brubeck Quartet, Far More Blue

The Jazz world will miss the artistry, style and cool expression of Dave Brubeck.  A true Jazz Giant who's music will live on.  One of my favorites, "Far More Blue".
